Off-season Discounts will Draw Tourists to Dubai



Hotels in Dubai have lowered room tariffs and are providing entertainment facilities for children to attract more families, both from overseas and other emirates, to Dubai.

Mohammed Al Rais, deputy general manager of Al Rais Travel, told Khaleej Times that the hotels usually come up with off-season discounts during summer as tourists visit Dubai mainly from October.

"Summer times are times for families coming from all the GCC countries and hotels have to come up with something that appeals to the families which are looking for good deals for their children," he said.

Hotels are offering services and programmes ranging from additional free nights to special retail, food and beverage promotions and holiday getaway packages for the entire family.

The promotions, which will continue till September 19, offer to families in the emirates and from GCC countries special rates starting from Dh800 per room per night, including a range of complimentary activities to ensure a perfect holiday getaway. The hotel guests will get unlimited complimentary access to Aquaventure, the region’s largest water park, and to the Lost Chambers, which hosts over 20 marine habitats and 65,000 fish and marine life.

Ashley McBain, spokesperson for Atlantis The Palm, said kids can be left at the Atlantis Kid’s Club for one complimentary day of supervised activities focusing on adventure and exploration from 11am to 6pm.

The Club has two climbing walls, a theatre where the kids can be engaged in producing and acting, art and crafts sessions, and stints in the kitchen where they can learn to bake their own bread and cakes from the culinary team of Atlantis.

Older children can go to the Magic Camp, Hollywood Camp with a complimentary day at Club Rush (8am to midnight) and those who choose to have nightly hangout this summer, can enjoy Summer Nights at Atlantis for Dh500 per teen until September 19.

Yolandi Brooks, corporate communications coordinator for Jumeirah Group, said that the group’s leisure promotions from July include family get-together at the Wild Wadi Waterpark of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, exclusively from 8am to 10am every Saturday at Dh195 for all and Dh165 for children below 1.1 metre in height.

A programme offers diving enthusiasts to become certified divers in just three days at the Pavilion Dive Centre and an all-female Ladies Night at Wild Wadi every Thursday with their family for as low as Dh165 from 9pm to 1am until August 10 this year.

By adding Dh10 to the regular admission ticket to Wild Wadi, visitors can get to see a movie of their choice until August 31.

Madinat Jumeirah offers a daily beach access pass, a special two-for-one offer, which includes day passes for two adults and a Dh150 lunch or drinks voucher redeemable at any of the Madinat Jumeirah restaurants and access to water sports facilities for just Dh450.

Jumeirah Emirates Towers’ Scarlett’s Golf Lounge is offering special corporate booking for groups of four to six persons and pair their experience with a light breakfast for just Dh70 per person. Special ladies’ mornings for 6-10 ladies can also be reserved at the lounge with Happy Hour coupled with a selection of beverages and complimentary platters of Tex-Mex favourites and snacks.

Retail promotions are also going on for orchids with compliments at Flowers@ the Towers until August 31 at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, and for Jumeirah luxury bed linen set at 20 per cent discount, Burj Al Arab Kimono Bathrobe, new Jumeirah leather home ware range, Jumeirah towel gift set until September 30.

Ladies can take advantage of the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa package, which includes one room night, breakfast, spa treatment, and either a horse riding session with a qualified trainer from the Emirates Equestrian Centre or a yoga session.

Other offers range from fully chilled escape from the hustle and bustle of the city with sumptuous meals served with leisure activities of the guests’choice to a romantic escape package at Jumeirah Bab Al Shams and Arabian Nights package until September 19 to a weekend at Jumeirah Emirates Towers for Dh800 deluxe, or Dh1,400 Club Executive up to December 2009. Guests who prefer palatial homes can choose the Malakiya Villas of Madinat Jumeirah with luxurious private facilities, including 24-hour butler service.

Dubai’s Hyatt properties are offering additional free nights to their guests until September 30 this year. The visitors can pay less and still experience the very best in authentic hospitality with Hyatt’s three summer offers — all available at Park Hyatt Dubai, Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency Dubai.

The Hyatt hotel offers range from "pay for two nights or three nights and getting one free complimentary night’s stay" or "pay for five nights and get two free complimentary nights" stay.

Until September 30, Dine In by Hyatt will shave a quarter off the bill when the guests dine in any of the 28 restaurants and bars eligible.

The Palace — Old Town is offering 20 per cent discount at all its dining outlets and recreation facilities in downtown Burj Dubai until August 15, 2009.

Olivier Heuchenne, general manager of The Palace — The Old Town, said, "The Palace has distinguished itself as a world class hotel in the city and we are now rewarding our customers with a 20 per cent discount making it the place to relax and socialise this summer."

Participating venues are Asado, the Argentinian-style grill restaurant, Ewaan, the hotel’s Oriental all-day dining restaurant and the signature Thai restaurant, Thiptara, offering Royal Thai cuisine.

Al Murooj Rotana, on the other hand, has special value-for-money offer in leisure, business or health this summer.

Though limited rooms are being offered for this promo, classic rooms and myriad other facilities are available for guests at Dh450 per room per night until September 15.
