Six Senses Resorts and Spas exploring possibility to set up Six Senses Spa in India



Bangkok-based Six Senses Resorts and Spa, is exploring the possibility of setting up a Six Senses Spa at different hotel properties (not in the Six Senses Resorts and Spa portfolio) in India. Six Senses Spa is a brand of Six Senses Resorts and Spa, which operates and manages spa centres at different hotel properties across the globe. Talking to Hospitality Biz, Ryosuke Yakuwa, Director of Sales, Six Senses Resorts and Spa said, "Six Senses is positively looking at setting up Six Senses Spa in India. We are currently in talks for the same with various companies and may look at setting up Six Senses Spa in a city or countryside." Currently, Six Senses Spa operates at various properties like MGM Grand in Macau, Pan Peninsula in London and many others. It will also open a Six Senses Spa at Abu Dhabi International Airport along with Etihad Airways in the coming months.

Further more, the company will also launch its third Soneva property in Thailand called Soneva Kiri. Soneva Kiri will undergo a soft launch on July 1, 2009 and will receive its first guest from October 1, 2009. “The product is extremely high-end, and so the time between July and October will be a testing phase to streamline our operations. The brand Sovena by Six Senses is targeted at the High Networth Individuals (HNI) like royal families, celebrities, business tycoons etc.,” added Yakuwa. Six Senses currently operates two Soneva properties in Maldives, under the title Soneva Gili and Soneva Fushi. It will open Soneva Nisi in Greece within the next five years.

Six Senses which actively started promoting all its properties in the Indian market last year through Outbound Marketing is looking at creating brand awareness through various media, B2B and B2C initiatives. On the B2B front, Six Senses will work closely with the travel trade to promote the properties through brochures and events. “We have seen the Indian market picking up since the last few months and through various marketing efforts, the brand Six Senses will be visible in the market,” stated Yakuwa. In total, Six Senses Resorts and Spa has properties under six brands – Soneva, Six Senses Hideaways, Six Senses Latitudes, Six Senses Destination Spas, Six Senses Spa and Evason.
